From October 8th to 19th, we will be holding the "Gods and Monsters" exhibition, the third in our series of special exhibitions themed around Princess Toyotsuma.
This time we will be bringing you plenty of the world view created by illustrator Boten.
Boten has created many works based on Japanese paintings and ukiyo-e, mainly based on mythological scriptures from around the world, and this time he has created a new piece, "Toyotamahime."
Please enjoy the collection of works that depict characters from the world of mythology with a unique touch.
Toyotamahime, a Japanese deity, also has the form of a dragon and is said to have human-like qualities, such as not letting her emotions get the better of her. We hope that viewers will think about what these characters from mythology have conveyed to people and how they have been passed down through the ages.
